
Downton Memorial Centre Fundraising Evening
If you love films, our next event is for you. It will also showcase our new projector and drop down screen and help us to raise funds for refurbishing the hall’s kitchen.
A Film Evening on Friday 24 April at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm)
In conjunction with Film Expo South, an organisation promoting and providing inspiration for independent filmmakers, you will be able to see:
- Five short films (45 mins in total) before the interval and
- One longer film (75 minutes) after the interval.
They cover a variety of genres – some are funny, others sad, poignant or thought provoking.
A licensed bar and refreshments will be available.

The Downton Memorial Centre
This is a versatile venue, with Wi-Fi throughout, that can accommodate a great variety of events and groups of people.
It consists of the original large hall plus a new extension comprising two modern meeting rooms and a small office upstairs (all for hire) and the pre-school downstairs.

The Bonvalot Room
One of two new meeting rooms with AV equipment, seating up to 60 people suitable for away days, workshops, AGMs, community activities, adult learning classes and health & wellbeing sessions.

The Hall with Stage and Kitchen
The original hall, with its large stage, kitchen and dining area, is suitable for a variety of events including sales, parties, exhibitions, fund raising events, plays, fitness and other group activities.

The Centenary Room
Seating up to 40 people, this smaller room has similar uses to the Bonvalot room.
